How to extract audio from a video on iPhone
If you only need the sound from a video, export it as an audio file instead of keeping a full video copy. The right choice depends on whether you want a quick one-off extraction or an audio file you can trim, edit, and share.
Use a local audio converter
- Open a converter that can import from Photos or Files.
- Select the video and choose the portion you want to keep.
- Pick an audio format. M4A is a compact default; MP3 is broadly compatible; WAV is useful when file size is less important.
- Export the audio file to Files or share it through iOS.
Use Clipex when you need to edit too

Before you export
Keep the original video until you have checked the audio file. If an item from iCloud Photos has not downloaded yet, download it to the device first. Only extract and reuse audio you have the rights or permission to use.
