How to compress a video on iPhone
Video compression trades file size against visual quality. Start by choosing where the video is going—email, messaging, storage, or social—then change only the settings that matter.
Keep the original
Duplicate the video or leave the original untouched until you have watched the compressed export. Compression is not a reversible edit.
Choose sensible output settings
- Lower resolution first when the recipient only needs a phone-sized video.
- Use a lower frame rate only if smooth motion is not important.
- Reduce quality gradually and preview the result before making a much smaller copy.
